正規分布とは、平均値あたりにデータが集約する連続値の分布です。グラフにした場合、左右対称で山が1つだけの分布になります。
後述する検定の多くは、母集団が正規分布に従っていると仮定したうえで行います。解析データの集団（標本）やその母集団が正規分布に従っているか確認が必要です。正規分布を表す統計量としては、母平均と母分散があります。なお標準偏差の項で「平均値±○」と記述しましたが、正規分布に従う分布のときだけ当てはまります。
normal distribution
A normal distribution is a distribution of continuous values where the data aggregates around the mean value. When graphed, the distribution is symmetrical and has only one peak.
Many of the tests described below assume that the population follows a normal distribution. It is necessary to check whether the analysis data group (sample) and its population follow a normal distribution. Statistics that represent a normal distribution include the population mean and population variance. Note that in the standard deviation section, we wrote “mean value ±○”, but this only applies when the distribution follows a normal distribution.
