[KIT] How to become a good presenter?

As we know that public speaking is really important for everyone. When you graduate from college or during your college career, you may be asked to make a speech at some of events such as weddings, or inspire a group of volunteers at a charity event. Being a good public speaker can enhance your reputation, develop your self-confidence and open up countless opportunities. Make sure you know how to speak well. So in order to become a good speaker or presenter, they need to follow many several steps:

Firstly, when you want to be a good speaker, you have to plan in advance. Make sure that you plan your communication appropriately. Use tools like brainstorming your idea that are related to the topic so it might be easy for you to collect your idea in one place. Then you can map all those ideas to the topic that you are going to present. And that is how you can structure your ideas. Planning also helps you to think on your feet. It is especially important for unpredictable question and answer sessions or last-minute communication when you finish your presentation.

Secondly, when you already plan your ideas, then you have to practice. There is a good reason that we always say, “Practice makes something better” so that is why you should practice again and again to make sure that you are really confident with your idea and the way how you deliver the speech to your audience. You can simply cannot be a confident, compelling speaker without practice. In order to practice, seek opportunities to speak in front of other people. If you’re going to deliver a presentation or prepared speech then create it as early as possible. The earlier you put it together, the more time you will have to practice. If appropriate, you can do some activities in front of a small audience because this can help you feel more comfortable with your performance. Your audience can also give you useful feedback.

Then, while you are presenting your topic, you have to pay attention to your body language. If you’re unaware of it, your body language will give your audience constant, subtle clues about your inner state when you deliver your speech to them. If you’re feeling afraid or nervous, or if you don’t believe in your ideas what you are saying, the audience can know it easily. So it is important to pay attention to your body language by standing up straight, taking deep breaths, looking people in the eye and smiling. Do not lean on one leg or use gestures that feel unnatural. Many people prefer to speak behind the podium when giving a speech. While podiums can be useful for holding notes, they put a barrier between you and the audience. They can easily become a crutch, giving you a hiding place from the dozens or hundreds of eyes that are on you. So please pay close attention to your body language.
